A long-vacant site in an industrial area near the Boise Airport could soon see a new hotel.

Union Street Investments has asked the City of Boise to approve a new four-story Woodspring Suites hotel. The sideways diamond-shaped site at 1915 W. Airport Way is surrounded on all sides by Airpor Way, near the National Interagency Fire Center.

The hotel would include a total of 122 hotel rooms, plus the usual fitness center, registration, laundry, and back-of-house facilities.

The Woodspring Suites brand provides extended stay-type hotels with 300 locations across the US. The brand switched over from Value Place in 2015. Rooms typically feature a sink, cooktop, microwave, and refrigerator. Rooms are typically cleaned every other week, or more often if guests pay extra.

“Materials on the hotel will feature fiber cement siding, wood-look siding, and brick veneer to create a modern and clean aesthetic,” Nicolette Womack with Kimley-Horn said in an application letter. “Canopies provided at building entries and the brick veneer base banding create a pedestrian-scaled first floor of the hotel, and clearly indicate primary entry paths. Fiber-cement trim at window elements contrasts with the adjacent building façade color and creates visual interest across the articulated façade.”

The project will add a new hotel project near older offerings like Motel 6 and Inn America. In recent years, a flurry of new hotel projects have also opened across Interstate 84 along Elder St.

A design review hearing is set for June 8th at Boise City Hall.
