STUDIOROCA's VMD (Vivienda Minima de Descanso) is a series of prefabricated small houses built from abandoned containers in Mexico, equipped with off-grid functions and simple luxury products.

Everyone is laying off staff these days. Small houses have become the answer to our endless pursuit of reducing our carbon footprint. Campers have brought us closer to the mobile lifestyle that each of us dreams of. For STUDIOROCA, a construction company headquartered in Mexico, containers are key.

After asking the questions of our time, "What would you do with less stuff?" Rodrigo Alegre and Carlos Acosta of STUDIOROCA launched a series of prefab houses, VMD (Vivienda Minima de Descanso) built from abandoned containers.

The series of prefabricated houses designed by STUDIOROCA aims to provide "easy, low-cost construction solutions", using environmentally friendly materials and smart home automation systems for exterior and interior equipment. Tracing back to the open layout of the interior, each one-bedroom container provides an open kitchen, dining area and living space at one end, and then the bathroom and storage room can be found in the middle, while the bedroom finds privacy at one end. Own ending.

The unique corrugated siding on the outside of the container is made of black Hunter Douglass Quadroline aluminum and is fused with gray Valchromat Viroc cement-bonded particleboard to give the house a rich industrial appearance in the natural environment. Durable and durable, the exterior of the VMD container is waterproof, fireproof, non-toxic, heat-insulating and sound-proofing, providing a quiet and safe retreat.

Following the minimal impact assembly process, each transport container of STUDIOROCA's VMD production line was built in a remote factory, which lasted three months and the installation time was only 7 days. Although each prefab house can be customized according to each customer's taste, they also come with preset elements.

For example, the floor is made of FSC-certified engineered oak, and every home is equipped with smart appliances. After choosing between a 320-square-foot one-bedroom house, a 640-square-foot two-bedroom house, or a 640-square-foot three-bedroom house, customers can add elements such as outdoor decks and off-grid capacity.
